plans, tax-sheltered annuities, government deferred compensation plans,
non-qualified deferred compensation plans, life insurance, health benefit
plans (insured and self-insured), and Taft-Hartley welfare benefit plans.
This representation also includes verifying compliance with applicable provisions
of the Internal Revenue Code and the Employee Retirement Income Security
Act of 1974. The firm attorney primarily responsible for these functions
is a registered CPA as well as a licensed Michigan lawyer.
In addition to advising clients in the preparation and review of benefit
plans, the firm represents employers in benefit-related litigation. In recent
years, this has included litigation regarding independent contractor issues,
alter ego disputes, pension disputes, actuarial disputes, conversion of
plans from defined benefit plans to defined contribution plans, contract
disputes, fiduciary obligations, and individual benefit right claims. |
